The School of Political Science and Law was established in early 2009 by merging the former Department of Political Economy and History with the Department of Social Sciences. The School offers three BA degree programs (Ideological and Political Education,Historyand Law Science) and three non-degree three-year national diploma programs (Ideological and Political Education,History Education and Legal Affairs).

Of the 41 staff members, 32 belong to the faculty, of which 4 are professors, 9 are associate professors and 11 are lecturers. Currently it has a student body of over 1,000.

The Center for Regional Economic Research is attached to the School.

Programs offered

Ideological and Political Education (a four-year BA program)

Objectives:The program is intended to train future teachers of ideological and political education as well as administrative personnel equipped with modern educational ideas and systematic knowledge and theories in the field of ideology and politics.

Courses offered:Formal Logic, Principles of Marxist Philosophy, Selected Readings of Marx’s Classic Works, Sociology, Politics, Ethics, Law, Political Economics, Western Economics, International Economics, Economic Management, Administration.

History (a four-year BA program)

Objectives:The program is intended to train students to become qualified middle school teachers of history and to work in archives management or in social and cultural administration.

Courses offered:Ancient Chinese History, Modern Chinese History, Contemporary Chinese History, Ancient World History, Modern World History, Contemporary World History, Selected Historical Works, Archeology, An Introduction to the Science of History, History Teaching Methodology, Sociology, Public Relations, An Introduction to the Science of Law, the Science of Archives, Civil Law.

Law Science (a four-year BA program)

Objectives:to train students to become highly specialized personnel who are morally, intellectually and physically strong and who can undertake work and responsibilities in workplaces related to law such as legal departments, public security bureaus, procuratorial departments, judicial departments, arbitration departments and lawyers’ offices.

Courses offered:Jurisprudence, Science of Constitution, Civil Law, Legal Law, Economic Law, Administrative Law and Administrative Lawsuits, Commercial Law, Law on Labor and Social Security, Marital Law, Civil Lawsuits, Legal Lawsuits, International Law, Law on Intellectual Rights Protection, History of the Chinese Legal System, History of Legal Systems in Foreign Countries.

Administrative Management(a four-year BA program)

Objectives:The program is intended to train students to be equipped with knowledge of administrative management and ability of analyzing and solving administrative problems, and to train them to become competent administrative personnel in Party and government organizations.

Courses offered:Principles of Administration Science, Principles of Management Science, Principles of Political Science, Contemporary Chinese Government and Politics, Contemporary Chinese Political System, Comparative Political System, Law, Administration Law and Administrative Procedure Law, Human Recourses Law, Administrative Psychology, Administrative Leadership, Policy Science, System of Civil Servants, Sociology, Administrative Information System, Public Economy, etc,.

Social Work (a four-year BA program)

Objectives:The program is intended to train students to be equipped with knowledge and theory of social work and skills of social investigation and social work, and to train them to become competent professional personnel in government organizations and NGOs where professional social workers are needed.

Courses offered:Survey of Sociology, Survey of Social Work, Social Security, Social Policy, Administration of Social Work, Social Investigation and Study Methodology, Case Work, Group Work, Community Work, Social Psychology, Survey of Social Problems, etc,.

Legal Affairs (a three-year national diploma program)

Objectives:to train students to become specialists who are equipped with systematic specialized theories and basic professional skills, and who can hold undertake careers related to law such as judicial officers, public procurators, lawyers, employees in judicial departments and public security bureaus.
