I．Categories, Duration and Registration Time

II. Programs Offered

Various types and levels of courses are provided for international students who are interested in studying Chinese language and culture. Following are the courses offered for international students at Yulin University

(1) Chinese language and culture for beginners

Basic Chinese, Listening Comprehension, Spoken Chinese, Reading, Chinese Culture, Chinese Calligraphy, Erhu (a folk musical instrument), and Taijiquan (a kind of traditional Chinese boxing).

(2) Chinese language and culture for intermediate learners

Intermediate-level Chinese, Intermediate-level Listening, Intermediate-level Spoken Chinese, Writing, Reading, Chinese Literature, Preparations for HSK (Chinese Proficiency Test), Chinese Culture, Chinese Calligraphy, Erhu (a folk musical instrument), Taijiquan (a kind of traditional Chinese boxing).

(2) Chinese language and culture for advanced learners

Advanced Chinese, Advanced Listening, Advanced Spoken Chinese, Advanced Reading, Writing, Chinese Literature, Preparations for HSK (Chinese Proficiency Test), Chinese Culture, Chinese Calligraphy, Erhu (a folk musical instrument), Taijiquan (a kind of traditional Chinese boxing).

III. Activities and Travel

1. Every term international students are invited to participate in various recreational and sports activities as well as get-togethers with Chinese college students;

2. Every term international students are expected to conduct at least one on-the-spot investigations of the local art, customs and tradition.

IV. Schooling Certificate

After completing the required courses and passingtheir finalexams, all international students who study in Yulin University will be granted relevant certificates. Short-term students will be granted a Certificate of Study in Yulin University, and long-term students will be granted a Certificate of Completion of Studies.

V. Facilities

1. Learning environment

The Center for Teaching Chinese to International Students is staffed with patient, kind, helpful and experienced Chinese teachers who teach international students in small classes using various methods according to students’ backgrounds and needs. The Center offers not only Chinese language courses but also a variety of distinctive courses on Chinese culture and arts. The university has excellent teaching equipment, a magnificent library with considerable resources and a spacious information center with Internet access.

2. Lodging facilities

Both single and double rooms are available for international students. Every room is furnished with a telephone, a bathroom and necessary furniture including desks, chairs and cupboards. Also, each room is equipped with internet access (telephone and internet expenses are to be paid by international students).

In addition, a recreation room is offered to international students where free internet and cooking utensils are provided.

3. Surroundings

Near the university gate is a post office, a school clinic, an ATM, a large market for farm produce and several supermarkets. The Bank of China, the railway station, the airport and main hospitals are all within easy reach of the university.

VI. Expenses

1. Tuition

1 year: 8,000 RMB Yuan;

half a year: 5,000 RMB Yuan;

less than half a year: 1,500 RMB Yuan / month.

2. Lodging

1 year: 6,000 RMB Yuan (single occupancy);

3,600 RMB Yuan (double occupancy)

half 1 year: 3,600 RMB Yuan (single occupancy);

2,400 RMB Yuan (double occupancy)

less than half a year: 900 RMB Yuan / month (single occupancy);

600 RMB Yuan / month (double occupancy).

VII. Application procedures

1. Inform usofyourwishto studyatYulin university byEmail, Tel., or Fax,andrequestthat THE APPLICATION FORMbe sent.
2. After filling in the Application Form, please email, mail or fax it toInternational Affairs Office, Yulin University.
3. Once the application has been approved,an Admission Notification and a JW202 Form will be mailed to the applicant.
4. With the above documents and a passport, the applicant can apply for a visa from his/her local China Embassy or Consulate.

(Alternatively, the applicant may come to Yulin University with a tourist visa, and then, with our help, can go through the necessary procedures.)

5. Pack your bags and hopa flight toBeijing,China.
6. From Beijing you can come to Yulin by air, bus or train, although for newcomers air travel is usually the easiest means of transportation.
7. After arrivingatYulin university, you can relax in your room.
8. Beforeclasses begin,you need toregister. Don’t forget to bring these documents: 1) Admission Notification; 2) JW202 Form; 3) Passport; 4) Schooling Certificate or Certification of Education Experience; 5) 4passportphotos.
